Directories of commissioned officers of the National Guard and Naval Militia, 1902-1939.

The series contains published directories of commissioned officers of the National Guard, Naval Militia, and Florida State Troops from 1902 to 1939. The directories document the units and officer personnel of the military establishment of the state in the early twentieth century. Volume one is the only volume that lists the staff noncommissioned officers for the Florida State Troops.

The Florida National Guard was established in 1909 (Ch. 5930, Laws) replacing the Florida State Troops. From 1921 until 1973, the Guard was placed under the Military Dept (Ch. 8502, Laws). In 1973, the Military Dept. became the Dept. of Military Affairs (Ch. 73-93, Laws). The Adjutant General has served as the military head of the Guard since its inception.
